Especially for Solly "Mzili" ka Afrika, a former investigative journalist. When he accepts an invitation to a lunch party in Johannesburg, he thought that he was paying homage to an old friend.Judge Jansen van der Schyff, his retired old friend, was elebrating his 80th birthday.
But the old judge had the displeasure of hosting a right wing brother that he had never seen or spoken to for over 42 years....
And a bitter, rich businessman whose divorce case he had presided over.
As the guests congregate on the lunch table to sing for the judge, something terribly strange happened...
Suddenly, the old judge slumped headfirst into his birthday cake - seriously dead!
Someone, one of the guests shouted, "It's a heart attack!"
Solly looks at the guests standing there - a strange bunch that annoys him, and somehow believes that the accident was staged. He finds himself in the midst of an unwelcome death... or was it murder?
Solly ka Afrika is disappointed that his hosts had invited him to drive 300 kilometers to Johannesburg not as a guest of honour, but as a guest for death.
